2022 $2 AUS Coloured COIN
In celebration of the 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games Team, the Royal Australian Mint proudly presents a vibrant and spirited collection of coins that encapsulate the essence of Australia's love for sports. Representing the nation in 21 thrilling sports, including 8 Para-sports, across 24 disciplines, the team comprises approximately 400 of Australia's most talented and determined athletes. With a rich sporting heritage, Australia stands as one of only six countries to have participated in every Commonwealth Games since their inception in 1930.
This seven-coin collection, adorned in the iconic green and gold sporting colors of Australia, captures the dynamic spirit of the Commonwealth Games. The coins are a visual delight, featuring a central letter "U," and when arranged together, the three $2 coins cleverly form the abbreviation "AUS" for Australia. The reverse design, credited to the Royal Australian Mint, showcases a large letter "A" at the center. Encircling it is a ring with a yellow background adorned with a pattern of thin circles. Within this green pattern, a kangaroo and an emu, supporters of the 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games Team logo, are depicted (partially obscured by the central circle and rim).
The rim above bears the inscription "2022 COMMONWEALTH GAMES TEAM," emphasizing the occasion and the nation's collective sporting achievement. Below, the face value and denomination "TWO DOLLARS" proudly display Australia's commitment to celebrating its athletes and the unifying power of sports. This exquisite collection beautifully encapsulates the pride, passion, and camaraderie that define Australia's sporting identity.
