2022 $2 dollar Coloured coin set of two Frontline Workers & Aboriginal Flag aUNC

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Australian Aboriginal Flag, a symbol deeply intertwined with the identity, unity, and pride of contemporary Aboriginal Australians, the Royal Australian Mint has issued a special coin. The reverse design pays homage to Harold Thomas' iconic creation, representing the flag's distinctive elements.

On the coin, the design unfolds with a black semi-circle above, symbolizing the night sky, and a red semi-circle below, reminiscent of Australia's rich red earth. Overlaid on this powerful imagery is a pattern of miniature Aboriginal flags, serving as a tribute to the diversity within the Aboriginal communities. The central part of the coin intentionally remains print-free, allowing the gold-colored alloy to shine through. This unmarked space represents the central sun motif, a key element in the flag's symbolism.

The inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL FLAG 1971" and "AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL FLAG 2021" encircle the design, marking the historical significance of this emblematic flag over five decades.

On the obverse side, the coin bears the essential details - the denomination, value, and the date of issue, providing a comprehensive celebration of the Australian Aboriginal Flag's enduring legacy.

Due to an issue with the colour print on these coins, many of them are already demonstrating moderate to major flaking of the coloured ring on the reverse of the coin straight from the bags/rolls.  This issue is consistent across the entire release.

The reverse of this coin beautifully captures the essence of Australia's diverse workforce through twelve pictograms depicting individuals in various professions. These iconic symbols encircle a central colored pattern that symbolizes connectivity and community, highlighting the vital role of frontline workers in bringing people together.

Designed by Adam William Ball, the coin features his initials, AWB, elegantly placed between two of the depicted figures on the right side, adding a personal touch to the artistic representation.

The inscription "AUSTRALIA'S FRONTLINE WORKERS" encircles the upper rim, acknowledging and honoring the dedication and resilience of those who contribute to the well-being of the nation. Below, the face value and denomination "TWO DOLLARS" are displayed, commemorating the crucial role played by frontline workers in Australian society.

UNC: Uncirculated â€“ These coins have not reached “commerce circulation” and are taken directly from Ram (Royal Australian Mint) rolls and bags.

Uncirculated coins are made using the same method as circulating coins but are struck multiple times with greater force, resulting in a cleaner coin.

These days security rolls (Armaguard/Prosegur) &/or security bags are also classified as UNC by the general public.

*Please note that due to the high-speed production techniques, even uncirculated coins may show slight imperfections such as minor bag marks or tiny rim indentations*.

aUNC: Almost uncirculated – These coins have been found in circulation; however, they look brand spanking new.

CIRC: Circulated – These coins vary in quality, i handpick every coin to ensure that the coin you receive is lightly circulated and is not junk, there will be no coin cancer (any greening/major toning), some coins may have lost some luster. Generally speaking, these coins have been in the hands of the general public and used as change in one point in their life.

Since the queen’s passing, we have received unprecedented demand for these coins and have had to increase our handling time. Our team is working hard and diligently to have your coins shipped out as soon as possible.

All orders under the value of $50 are sent with free untracked postage (It is recommended to purchase tracked postage @$3.50).

All orders above the value of $50 are sent with free tracked postage.
