2019 $2 ANZAC 100 Years of Repatriation Australian two dollar coin CIRC
Description
2019 $2 ANZAC 100 Years of Repatriation Australian two dollar coin CIRC
This captivating two-dollar coin is part of the Remembrance Day
series, an enduring tribute to honor those who served and sacrificed during
times of conflict. Remembrance Day, observed in Commonwealth of Nations member
states since the end of the First World War, is a solemn occasion to remember
the fallen members of the armed forces.
In this poignant series, each coin features a distinct design, and
the Repatriation $2 coloured coin specifically commemorates the centenary of
the Repatriation for Australian soldiers and nurses after the First World War.
The central motif on the reverse depicts a graphic element taken from the First
World War Returned from Active Service badge.
At the heart of the design, over four concentric circles, lies a
representation of St Edwardâs Crown, two crossed swords, a pair of wings, an
anchor, and a chain â elements integral to the First World War Returned from
Active Service badge issued to returning Australian soldiers from 1914 to 1919.
Symbolically, the inclusion of this badge marks the commencement of the
Repatriation process.
Surrounding the badge is a circular color print adorned with black
arrows and eight red and black petal motifs. The arrows, inspired by the iconic
Rising Sun, symbolize the journey home of Australian service personnel over the
last century. The petals, representing the Flanders Field poppy, an enduring
symbol of remembrance, symbolize each of the six states and two territories of
Australia.
Encircling the design, the inscription "ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF
REPATRIATION" pays tribute to this significant milestone. Below, the coin
states its value and denomination with the words "TWO DOLLARS," while
the initials of the designer, Adam William Ball (AWB), are intricately placed
between the badge and the value. This coin stands as a heartfelt and meaningful
reminder of a century of repatriation and the enduring spirit of remembrance.
